The chip is what tells the printer that it is ok to print (i.e. There is ink available and that the cartridge is approved). Some chips will only be reset with available procedures a few times. Other times refillers are not succesful in resetting the chip or just give you another cartridge that is already refilled and could just happen to have a bad chip. You should probably return the cartridge and try to get one that will work based on the argument that refilling is not only related to ink but also to chip. I am having canon pixma ip 2700 inkjet printer. It worked properly till. I got refilled both cartridge and fix it in my printer but the cartridge was not recognized. I had tried installing the cartridge many times and also tried switch off and on it again many times but the printer shows the same error that 'An error occurred.Some ink cartridges cannot be recognized.'

Hi, i have experienced the same, just 2 days ago my printer is working,then suddently this day, it does not at all, and it prompt an error that the cartridge was not installed properly, i did the pulling and installing again the cartridge but none happen, i have unplug the power cord and usb for about 10mins for the said own printer resetting but when i opened it and installed a new driver, it was still the same error. Have you removed the drivers and software? Using add remove programs. Then download a registry repair program ( this will make sure any error entries in your registry are removed.) then install your software again. Follow manufactures detailed instructions to make sure you have a working printer.
I am asuming that your printer connects through a USB port? Goto you device manager and see if the USB is working properly.

The Microchip that's on the cartridge was not reset properly that's why the printer is returning that error.
You can try some steps before you take it to them to verify it. 1: reseat (take out and put back in) the cartridges into place 2: buy another black cartridge just to check if it will be recognized by the printer, if it does recognize it we know the cartridge is defective.
