  • How to fix Mshearts.exe Download Windows Xp errors.
  • To get the Windows XP versions of FreeCell, Hearts, Minesweeper, Solitaire, and. Application Name: mshearts.exe Application Version: 5.1.2600.0.

Hi there If you have an XP installation THESE games will run Copy to say a USB device from a Windows XP installation. Old classic windows games.

Click to expand.OK Alex. It seems none of us have actually answered your question and you've piqued my interest.

I've done a little investigating for the games on xp and it seems they are self-contained exe's, which means they shouldn't have to be 'installed' (put the exe anywhere and it should run when clicked). So, if you want to give it a try to get them on your Win8 machine, just expand the exe for the game from the xp disc to where ever you want on the Win8 machine. Simplest way is if you have 7-zip. Pop in the disc, open it to view the files, find the game exe in the I386 folder, right click it, select 7-zipExtract Files.browse to where you want it to go on the Win8 machine.

Now for the disclaimers. I don't have a Win 8 machine so can't try it. If the exe doesn't run, try it in Compatibility mode for either Vista or Win 7 (the files are the same on Vista as XP). The Help (consisting of the HLP and CHM files) is not part of the exe so they need to be extracted separately.

I have no idea of the Win 8 folder structure, but if it's the same as XP (C: Windows Help), the exe should find them. The game should still play without them, though, assuming it will run on Win 8. I know this part because I eradicated a couple from my XP (Freecell and minesweeper), then dropped them from my disc onto a flash and they worked fine. I also dragged them to my C: and they still worked fine. I then expanded the Help files into my C: Windows Help and that worked as well. All I can say is, nothing ventured-nothing gained.

Finally, an answer that addresses the question. Thanks so very much. It seems that some, not all of the games are available from the store; but, the hoops you have to jump through and the confusion encountered in just trying to find them is ridiculous.

Windows

It is no wonder MS is losing ground - and rapidly. It looks like their meteoric rise is being matched only by their meteoric decline.

Then there are some we could not find for free and had to buy. The cost was only a dollar-fifty; but, the aggravation of having to set up an account, choose a password, then enter credit card information complete with phone number, alternate e-mail address, home address, City, state, etc., etc., etc., all for a dollar-fifty game. I'm gonna' get these games extracted and see if they'll run on Win8. If they do, it's goodbye Windows Store.

Just in case anyone else runs into this, here's the solution I used. I had a Windows XP system come into my shop today and I copied the following files to a flash drive and put them in a user-defined folder in the root of the Windows 8, 64-bit machine and they all ran fine.

They also run on my Windows 7, 32-bit machine: C: Windows System32 cards.dll C: Windows System32 freecell.exe C: Windows System32 mshearts.exe C: Windows System32 sol.exe C: Windows System32 spider.exe C: Windows System32 winmine.exe.
