Thundercats 2011 Game Concept

Thundercats 2011 Game Concept Rating: 7,7/10 4605 reviews

Cheetara is a female member of the ThunderCats. Cheetara (2011 TV series) Cheetara's true feelings 6 messages. A FANDOM user. Well at this stage of the game.

It's true in my case, unless you count Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and company. But even in Mospeada / Robotech: New Generation, the context was completely different.

AAAAAAaaaaaaaaaanyway, who's seen Thundercats? Overall, I found Thundercats (2011) to be entertaining.

SPOILER WARNING! I think the writers stole virtually everything.

The Thundercats City was like Gondor with a little Helm's Deep thrown in. That beginning scene with Lion-O in the Thundera Undercity reminds me of a scene in the old Tartakovsky clone wars series where Anakin was all cloaked going into the Coruscant Undercity looking for stuff. This Lion-O reminds me of Anakin too, with the angsty relationship between him and Obi-Wan -err, TIGRA (OK, that's reaching on my part), but also his sense of compassion and leniency which is borne out of ignorance (freeing the redshirt mutants reminded me of Anakin saying Palpatine deserved to be tried in the courts).

And like Anakin, he seems to be the most proficient with technology. Oh and Snarf WAS like Jar-Jar Binks in the 80s, but now he's more like a cute R2-D2. All the catapults lined up at the walls of Thundera? Battle at Gondor. The young Thunderans being led by their elders in the tunnels? I swear that scene was lifted from Two Towers during Battle at Helms Deep. The scene with the battle mech arriving at Thundera?

That was like the magitek mech arriving at Narshe in Final Fantasy 6. In fact, I'd be so bold as to say the medieval technology with sci-fi thrown in was inspired by the Final Fantasy series, as well. Jaga arriving at Helm's Deep - err, Thundera, was like when Gandalf arrived with Erkenbrand and the Rohirrim.

King Claudus = Theoden Jaga = Gandalf 'General Panthro' (Mumm-Ra, I know) stabbing King Claudus with a knife? Brutus stabbing Caesar. King Claudus' claw scabbard turning gray upon his death? Just like when Optimus Prime turned gray upon his death in the 1986 Transformers movie.

That scene when Mumm-Ra goes for the Sword of Omens and is rebuffed by the red stone in the hilt reminded me of a very similar scene from Dragon Quest when Baramos grabbed for the Red Stone and was similarly rebuffed (yes, this anime was dubbed and aired in the US, but the dub is horrible, so here's the sub Time Index 2:15) And of course, Jaga sacrificing himself - Gandalf at the bridge in Moria. So our heroes looking over the edge at the ruins of their old home. Where will they go? Will Lion-O travel with his friends Tigra and Cheetara to Pewter City to get his first gym badge?

Only time will tell. Also, I am a little ticked that Panthro only made a cameo in this new series. I think there may be a scintilla of hope that Panthro somehow survived Grune's betrayal, but I doubt it. I think they just want all the main protagonists to be very young.

Panthro seems to be over 40. I really wanted to see him piloting the thundertank (I hope there will be one in the future). Even Mumm-Ra sounded a bit young - he sounded much better in the 1980s. Now he sounds like a 20 something guy on Ventrillo RP'ing WoW undead.

(well OK, a bit more professional than that ) And the concept of half man half lion? I bet they got that from. Finally, I quote Comic Book Guy: 'I will only see it three more times.' Looking forward to it. Just saw the trailer and didn't know it premiered a couple days ago. Don't even know if I have Cartoon Network here in my San Diego hotel room. I do know that I was in elementary school when I watched Thundercats, MASK, D&D, Silverhawks, and my other favorite cartoons.

The timing is great because my son is just entering school age so I will get to share things like Thundercats with him. Series change over time and it has to be taken with a grain of salt. Whenever these shows are respawned, they are never done so with 100% of the original cast and production team. As such, there will be variance. Each project should be given a fair shake even though it will be ultimately compared to the original. Saw the new TMNT series a few months back. Wasn't impressed.

Reminded me of Batman beyond, catering to the more ADD style of our current generation. But just not for me and the way storylines and plots used to go in the 80s/90s.

I watched the pilot a few more times (it's available for FREE 'On Demand' via FIOS tv, it's probably available on other major TV providers), and I must say I really like it. Between this and Clone Wars, I feel like I'm not an adult anymore.

Anyway, I realize I was quite hypercritical at first, but that's just a stance I like to take. Thundercats was one of my favorite shows in the 80s, and I couldn't imagine a reboot being decent. I think it'll be on Fridays 8:30 PM EST on CN. I'm looking forward to the next one, and I hope Panthro is alive and becomes a regular! I also hope Hachiman makes a cameo at least - he was my favorite ally. Hehe, indeed.

Yeah, Ramlak Rising was so meh. I hated how Lion-O acted during 90% of that episode. First, he wants to abandon the Thunderkittens (I figured Tygra would be the one to be all level-headed and skeptical, giving Lion-O all the logical reasons why they shouldn't tag along).

I thought he treated the lizards from the premiere better than he treated the Thunderkittens. Then, Lion-O abandons everything to go after the fishman pirate's 'Moby Dick' foe. It even looks like he's taking orders from the captain. This is the Lord of the Thundercats? I realize they want to have him start from a low point so they can develop him, but I don't find him at all endearing.

I haven't seen Thundarr, Dahkot. I vaguely remember seeing the intro sequence once in my childhood, but it's ever so slightly before my time. Hehe, indeed. Yeah, Ramlak Rising was so meh.
