Scenechronize Training Courses

Scenechronize Training Courses Rating: 5,8/10 6509 reviews

This course is designed to give students a basic understanding of how motion pictures are made, from development to distribution. These fundamentals as well as alternative models and theories of production will give students a context which will allow them to critically adapt their own methods of filmmaking.

The hope is that this class will help each student develop a short script and adapt it to their personal resources. By the end of the course, students should have everything they need to go into production, should they decide to do so. As reflected in the UCF creed, integrity and scholarship are core values that should guide our conduct and decisions as members of the UCF community. Plagiarism and cheating contradict these values, and so are very serious academic offenses. Penalties can include a failing grade in an assignment or in the course, or suspension or expulsion from the university. Students are expected to familiarize themselves with and follow the University’s Rules of Conduct @ Any violation of the Rules of Conduct or Golden Rule can impact your grade.

It's fantastic and if I could physically make out with web-based distribution system, I would totally go to at least second base with Scenechronize. I've worked with it as a script coordinator, and it is an absolute godsend. I've had to use it because the unbreakable watermark has been essential for the various shows I've been on, but the instant, reliable electronic distribution is, in many ways, the real attraction.

The one hassle is that distribution is only as good as your address book, so you'll want to make sure the PA or APOC in charge of creating the database is on the stick, and good about tracking down bounced emails. The raw data entry is time consuming - maybe 5-7 hours work, depending on the size of your crew? - but pays dividends for the entire length of production.

Yes, the watermarking has stopped in-demand scripts from leaking (b/c nobody wants the script with their name in 2 inch high letters across every pages turning up on the internet), but my favorite thing is the confirmation email. Everyone who got your distribution is on that list, and if the CEO of CBS says he didn't get it but his name is on that list, well, he got it. Maybe it's in his spam folder, maybe his assistant deleted it, but he got it. (You will, of course, apologize profusely for the mistake and re-send it, but by privately sending the confirmation email to the assistant and your supervisor, you will be definitively proving that you're a grown-up who wants to fix the problem, but are not actually to blame. Man, it's just the best feeling in the whole world.) I also find their customer support team to be really responsive, so if you want or need a tutorial, you can definitely reach out to them. They've been acquired since I last worked with them, but their corporate policy used to be built on the idea that personal relationships are the secret to growing market share and they've never not fixed a problem for me. I would join you in that threesome with Scenechronize - shit would get messy.

The confirmation email was also my favourite bit - saved my bacon so many times, whenever someone emailed claiming they'd never received it. Also loved it for when you had to do a mass print of a draft or an amendment, but all the scripts have to have watermarks.

It was also super helpful for generating sides every day - the ability to process the scripts, and then select the scenes you needed for the next day's callsheet. And I agree about their customer support - I've never had a friendlier representative. We just used a new cloud service on a short film,. It was an early private beta and now they’re in public beta. I'd worked on an episodic that used Scenechronize, and it was cool, but only a handful of people had access out of our 100+ person crew. It's a pain in the butt to get a good pricing on scenechronize also because they don't advertise their pricing. It's more about who you know and working out a deal.

Prodhub is geared for indie projects and doesn’t have some of the high-end, episodic bells & whistles, but it’s designed to share info across the entire cast & crew, not just the core production team. The 'raw data entry” mentioned above is a lot less because if everyone is responsible for their own contact info, the burden to make it Right is on them (Linkedin/Facebook model), not us. That alone saved us a ton of time starting from zero.
