Thinking about it in hindsight, the was cut down to a nub of what they filmed. The season was much shorter than Season 5, which had a fraction of the action, yet got a good 22 episodes to explain exactly why Teresa and Melissa did not get along, over and over again. By contrast, Season 6 had three new Housewives, crazy rumors about cross-generational infidelity, a, and, of course, two guilty verdicts. The recurring Housewives, Kathy and Jacqueline, barely had time to appear in the season and neither one managed to get an arc or even nab an invitation to any of the parties. As this over-too-soon season draws to a close I'm already looking ahead to find out. A few places have reported that is already underway, in hopes that they can cover the period leading up to Teresa Giudice surrendering herself to jail. Teresa has not confirmed whether or not she and Joe will be a part of the season, but they do have some more serious business to take care of.

It might seem a little exploitative, but I don't think it would feel that way. For better or for worse, the Giudices have become beloved for their television personalities, and themselves fallen in love with being television personalities. The Real Housewives of New Jersey was the fourth edition of Bravo’s popular Housewives series. It followed in the footsteps of The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Real Housewives of New York City and The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The first season of the Real Housewives of New Jersey focused mainly on the Manzo family: sisters Caroline and Dina, their sister-in-law Jacqueline Laurita and their friend Teresa Giudice. Another cast member, Danielle Staub, was the outsider with an exceptionally shady past, who always seemed to be in desperate need of acceptance from the other women, especially Dina.
From almost the minute this installment of the Bravo Housewives hit the airwaves, America seemed both fascinated and appalled by the New Jersey women’s unique accents, flashy ways and veiled references to the mob and other possible criminal activity. For example, during one infamous scene, Teresa paid $120,000 in cash for furniture for her huge McMansion. As the season went on, tensions grew dramatically between Staub and the other cast members. The final straw came when the Manzos and Giudice learned of a book that exposed Staub as a former stripper, drug user and that she had even once been arrested for kidnapping and extortion. The season ended with a heated confrontation between all of the cast members at a dinner.
